just a quote for you

I'm not going to send out a mass e-mail, informing everyone i posted this update. Instead this blog entry is just for the loyal readers that check here -just in case- i updated (jenny! that means you!). :-) oh, and i guess for everyone else when i eventually get around to posting another mega update and they notice this one....

So, today i recieved a postcard in the mail. There was no "Dear Alex,...." or "hey! how are you?!". There wasn't even a signiture. There was only a "<3 (heart) CM". It took me a moment, but very quickly i realized it must be from my former roommate (first year at SLC)/amazing friend Caitlin Morrison.

The postcard read:
"So we got this sweet opportunity to live this round as a human and it's so scary and painful, but also heartwarming and joyous. Most people spend a lot of time trying to fend off the symptoms of humanitis. We all want to be safe and not get our core hurt. But it's inevitable and like Leonard Cohen said it's the cracks that lets the light in. So let's get broken. Let's open to this condition we only get for an unpredictable amount of time. If something scares you do it."

I dont know why, but for some reason these words have really stuck with me, and i wanted to share them with you as well. Apparently she sent me the postcard in January when she was have a breakdown in Budapest (where she was studying abroad).

i'm just glad i got it at all. :-)
